White Patchouli. Tom Ford.

Perfumer:Givaudan.
Notes of peony, bergamot, coriander, jasmine, lily of the valley, rose, ambrette seed, amber, sandalwood and incense.

First, I’ll confess, I’m always totally intrigued regarding Ford's creations.
I loved big time "Black Orchid" and I do love "White Patchouli". It amuses me how those fragrances that are without the shadow of the doubt designed for a sensual, modern and sophisticated woman , in fact, go much better in a man skin.
Retro-Metrosexual is how I would describe this perfume.

When I find out that Tom Ford could now be found in Sephora I went down the shop to try this one.
The company describes it as a "floral-infused wood fragrance"

It starts as loud as "Black Orchid".
Surprisly is not as floral as you could expect.
It definitively smells masculine, developing with a spicy, warm, woddy aura.

I detect rapidly the patchouli surrounded by a spicy coriander.
The white flowers (mostly lily of the valley and jasmine to my nose) arrive in the background and they show themselves in the same way as in "Kenzo Power": Both flowers have a distinctive spicy-ambery-woody character but going futher, trying to explain it, is like a soft floral undertone that is literally scratched and splashed with spices, amber and woods. The result certainly smells slightly synthetic but gives an interesting twist to the whole formula.

And the perfume stays like this for ages not being as powerful as "Black Orchid" but being enough noticiable with a gorgeous trail and become rather linear but extremely addictive as you can't help to sniff yourself over and over again.

There's a subtle change in the background as the floral notes dissipate slowly ending just like a soft whisper while the woody notes increase.

"White Patchoui" is excellent. It literally smells like white patchouli.
It smells chic, elegant, clean and sophisticated.
It is definitively more masculine than femenine and for those who found the "Orchid" too much gourmand, they probably would love this one.
Not being as loud as "Black Orchid" it has a beutiful long lasting and sillage still.
I am very impressed and find it pretty unique.
For me it is a heartbreaker.

Flowers are for men.

I can't help to talk again about this new trend going on currently, based on "the new man" and the perfumer's interpretation of this new social specimen breaking boundaries in the masculine perfumery world.

I'd lie if I said that from my personal and particular point of view, all this has benefitted me on a certain level because now I could wear socially certain perfumes with confidence when before, I would not dare to do it.

Knowing that most of the masculine new floral perfumes are always based on the same boring concept, (sticky-powdery-definitively feminine), I start to wonder:
Why can I not wear a women's fragrance which actually does smell not even remotely as feminine as for example "Dior Homme" or "Kenzo Power"?
Meanwhile I'm still waiting for "the release", that one which will surprise me pleasantly, but no joy so far.
Iris, petit grain and violet. Is there not anything new under the sun, please?
I am getting to the point where I start to believe that perfumer's creativity is starting to vanish.

Summer is around the corner and I keep looking for the perfect fresh floral.

Black Orchid. Tom Ford.

Perfumist: Tom Ford.

Notes of black truffle, ylang ylang, bergamot, black currant, mandarine, jasmine, gardenia, lotus wood, black orchid, chocolate, patchouli, incense, vetiver, vanilla tears, balsam, sandalwood.

Spechless: What a fragrance!!!.

A velvety body, heavy without being stinky, sour, sweet, hot, little spicy, a little woody too.

I'm amazed!. The best on the gourmad range like Angel by Mugler.

The compostion is very strong. I may suggest to use with caution.

It starts deep and rich with the pure truffle accord, that in my opinion is the main note, going all the way through the perfume. Is that much real ,that your mouth goes watery. Even so, is a funny note as, being the richest accord, seems to my nose, heady and airy, not overdosed.

The truffle slowly melts with the black currant and a velvelty ylang, soft, like a shadow.

After 15-20t apply the flower notes starts to raise slowly but with a strong presence.

I start to renember NIlang by Lalique. This perfume has the same reminiscent of jasmin, berries and lotus wood. It's just a ghostly exhibition, cause it changes radicly, in a blink on an eye. I have now in front of me, a dewy sour hint of fresh jasmine, that is for me, at the precise moment of the fragrance, like a little spark in the middle of the darkness.

The gourmard accents, now, are falling down into a pool of creamy light quality. I hardly may detect very shy vanilla, ( like a nice ice cream) and the vetiver is making himself a way into a halo of dark, rich, luxury notes too. Probably the unknow orchid note appears here, waving in a matte texture, in the background.

The chocolate has melted already with the truffle, that is basicly impossible to distingue within them.

There's come a hint of balsam and patchouli. Just a little touch. A landing into reality, after been floating in a glutteny heaven for hours...

This perfumes stay forever, the projection is miles so far.

I can see modern men wearing this. Is enough masculine and sexy, to be weared for the brave.

M7 & M7 fresh. Yves Saint Laurent.

Perfumist: Jacques Cavallier and Alberto Morillas.

Countains: bergamot, mandarin, rosemary, agarwood, Haitian vetiver, amber and musk.

This is one of my favourite in winter. Exudes sensuality, masculinity.

It catch me by surprise as Yves range wasn't on my list of interesting fragrances.

It's dark, hypnotic, enigmatic and earthy.

It starts a bit of a medicinal, but this feeling goes quickly with the short pressence of the citrus notes.

After that, becomes the darkness: It is dark, warm, and dry, a little spicy and the agarwood reign the all procress.

To me, it isn't heavy at all, but the intesivity of the vetiver and agarwood, probably wouldn't suit every single nose, unless, really like much both.
It' hard to find a scent too masculine to wear, but M7 probably qualifies this challenge.

The longevity is just leave me speechless. It can be easy noticiable even after 8-9 hours after apply.

I wear it, specially in nights. On any man, I find it the sexiest fragrances I can remember.

I may review also the M7 fresh version that has thumbs up along for me!.

It still representing the sensuality and the enigmatic but in less doses.

Countains: Grapefruit, lime, ginger, vetiver, bay leaf, cola, agarwood, musk and amber.

The first spray is a pretty straightforward grapefruit note and juicy lime. The opening citrus lasts all along the perfume, while, slowly It's getting to a darker side (never as the original M7)completed with a soft ginger touch and earthy vetiver.

You cand detect the bay leaf and a FANTASTIC fizzy cola note that start blending with the agarwood.

This fragarnce is less potent, much fresher than the other, but still retaining a nice amount of the darkness of the original.

M7 Fresh hasn't the longevity of the original, but it does last long enough. Both are top list, and must have fragrances.
