Laurel by Monocle & Comme des Garçons.

Perfumer: Antoine Maisondieu.
Countains bay laurel, incense, marigold, cedar, pepper, patchouli and amber.

Monocle + Comme des Garçons collaborate again as a great team and bring up a fab, (and for sure very succesfcul) sharp, raw spicy fragrance.
It tries to capture the traditional, rustic, hand-made soaps of the Middle East, those who are brown and our granmopther (like mine) used long time ago to washing clothes.

"Laurel" starts green and herbal, just like fresh bay leaf. It has a sharp, raw and substantial soul but quickly develops into a fine smoky-peppery bay scent splashed of a dry aura with the marygold flower.
I can get a hint of cumin with a dirty nuance in the background.

The green aroma soon is accompained by a warm patchouli-amber base plus a much more smoky frankincense that gives a darker twist. There is a whisper of a soft yet musky wood note.

Despite it has been inspired by the old fashion, traditional soap, "Laurel" won't smell as clean or as soapy as you could spect.
It is a complex well blended fragrance.
"Laurel" has a very good lasting power but it develops private, with a timid sillage.
